Becoming a Follower of Jesus
Choosing to follow Jesus Christ is a simple decision, but a HUGE decision. Modern Religion has made this a very complicated thing. Jesus simply said, "Follow me" (John 10:27). Choosing to follow Him means repenting of your sin against God, receiving His forgiveness (1 John 1:9), turning from those sins, and following Him. We are also instructed to go public with that decision by being baptized (Acts 2:38). We also follow the example of Jesus by being baptized (Matthew 3:13-17).
We support that decision by providing environments where you can learn, grow, and serve. Your next steps should be:
1. Register for baptism. Once you've been contacted for the next baptism at the bay, invite all your friends and family to celebrate with you. We typically have a BBQ, play football, and have the baptism. It is very memorable, spiritual, and a lot of fun.
2. Register for a life group. A key element to a successful walk with Christ is a decision not to walk alone. A life group provides an environment where you can connect, ask questions, discuss the Scriptures, and experience prayer.
3. Find a place to serve. God does not forgive us and put us on a shelf. He forgives us and uses as vessels of transformation in other people's lives. To find a place to serve, contact Anne Johnson, our volunteer coordinator.
Congratulations on your decision to follow Christ. Your past has been forgiven and God is at work in your life. Trust Him as you move forward in your relationship with Christ. It may not be perfect or easy. But, it is an awesome, adventurous, soul cleansing, destiny changing decision!
